Gunstock Ski Trip Guide: Where to Stay, Lift Ticket Deals & Local Tips

Gunstock Mountain Resort in Gilford, New Hampshire is one of the Lakes Region's favorite places to ski and ride, with trails for every level and views of Lake Winnipesaukee from the top. Whether you're planning a family ski weekend or a quick midweek escape, here's what to know before you go, from where to stay to how to save on lift tickets.

Gunstock at a glance

  • 44 trails plus 5 glades, from beginner runs to the expert trail Hotshot

  • 1,340 feet of vertical drop and a summit elevation of about 2,300 feet

  • 8 lifts, including a high-speed quad

  • 98% snowmaking coverage, so conditions stay reliable even in a light snow year

  • Terrain parks with 22 acres of freestyle terrain

The season usually starts in early December and runs into the spring, depending on the weather. Check gunstock.com for the latest opening date and conditions.

Night skiing and snow tubing

One of the best things about Gunstock is that the fun doesn't stop at sunset. During the season, night skiing typically runs Tuesday through Saturday starting at 3pm, with lit trails, the terrain park and the tubing hill open under the lights. Snow tubing is a great option for kids or anyone who doesn't ski, since no special skills are needed and a conveyor lift brings you back to the top.

More than downhill skiing

Gunstock also has a Nordic Center with groomed trails for classic and skate cross-country skiing, plus rentals and lessons. Prefer to explore on foot? Ask about their snowshoe tours and programs.
